Site Terms
These terms describe the ground rules for reading and using Lab Retriever. Using the site means you agree to them. We have tried to keep them short and readable; if anything is unclear, ask us at letters@lab-retriever.com.
What our articles can and cannot do
Our briefings are general information for curious readers. They cover cleaning, decorating, small repairs, home technology, travel, films and hobbies, written by a small team using pen names and without professional qualifications in those fields. An article cannot see your home, your appliance, your wiring or your travel plans, so it cannot replace advice from someone who can.
- For electrical, gas, plumbing or structural work, use a qualified tradesperson.
- For appliances, flooring and finishes, the manufacturer's instructions take priority over anything we write.
- For legal, financial, insurance or travel-document questions, check with the relevant authority or a professional adviser.
Your responsibility
If you follow a guide, you do so at your own judgement. Read the whole article first, follow the safety notes, test cleaning products on a hidden spot, and stop if something does not look or feel right. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from the use of general information on this site.
Accuracy and updates
We work hard to get things right and we correct mistakes when we find them or when readers point them out. Products, services, prices and rules change, though, and an article can fall behind. The date at the top of each piece tells you when it was published or last updated. If you spot something wrong, please tell us through Drop Us a Line.
Using our content
The text, layout and graphics of Lab Retriever belong to the site or are used with permission. Feel free to:
- read, print or keep copies of articles for private reference;
- send a link to any page to friends or post it elsewhere;
- quote a short passage with a clear credit and a link back to the original article.
Please do not copy whole articles to another website, republish them in a newsletter or feed them into a product without written permission.
Pages beyond ours
Articles sometimes link to other websites. Those sites are run by other people, and their content, offers and privacy practices are their responsibility. A link is there because we think it is useful context for the topic, and you should judge any service on its own merits before using it.
Privacy and cookies
How we handle the small amount of data involved in running this site is explained on How We Handle Data, and the single choice stored in your browser is described on Cookies Used Around Here.
Availability
We aim to keep the site online and the links working, but we cannot promise uninterrupted access. Pages may be updated, moved or removed as the briefing evolves.
When these terms change
We may revise these terms when the site changes. The current version is always on this page, and continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the revised wording.
